SBC is launching a new social/educational program that is accessible to all in our community. We invite you to join us for quarterly virtual Question, Answer, and Connection sessions open to all ages and family members across our entire service area.
We have so much to learn from each other. The idea is that people will send in or post questions in advance of the scheduled Zoom meeting and we will arrange to have someone with expertise in the area on the call to answer your questions. All participants on the call are invited to share their experiences on topic, so an adult with SB might chime in with their experience to a teen who has a question about college or finding a job, or a parent whose child has had a surgery in the past could offer their experience to someone who has the procedure scheduled, for example.
The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 15th at 7:00 PM. To get the ball rolling, we will start with some questions asked in our young family chat session at the regional conference last November about school and IEP strategies and rights. Lisa Schmidt, Coordinator at East Central Indiana Special Services will be on the call to give guidance and recommend resources to build confidence for your next school meeting. Please send in specific questions that you have regarding IEPs so that Lisa can be prepared to address them.
The meeting will not be limited to a discussion on IEPs, however, so please send in any SB-related question. Questions for the first meeting should be sent to email@example.com ,or you may ask them during the meeting. These are meant to be open conversations so that we can learn from each other and build connections in our community. You may not have a question for this first meeting, but you so have experience to share. Please join us! If a question can’t be answered during the meeting, we will work to get the information sent to you in the week following the session.
