We had a great turn out for our first SBsync event at Pin Deck Bowling in February. We heard that everyone had a great time, so let’s keep the energy going!
On April 1st, teens and adults with spina bifida will be joining The Bridge Adaptive Sports & Recreation Program at their Adaptive Curling Try-It event at the beautiful Indian Hill Winter Club. Curling is a Paralympic sport that allows players to use their personal assistive mobility devices while on the ice. There will be (2) hour-long sessions, the first starting at 3:15pm and the second at 4:15pm. Let’s register for the second session at 4:15pm and meet up at 4:00 before getting out on the ice. After an hour of curling, SBC will have sandwiches and drinks to recharge over dinner in the lower lounge area outside of the ice rink.
The Adaptive Curling Try-It is a free event open to all with disabilities, so you are encouraged to register ASAP as there are only 24 slots available per session. Adaptive sticks will be provided and volunteers will show new athletes how to play. If the second session becomes full, and you would like to register for the first at 3:15pm, you can still stay and watch the second group and join us for dinner afterwards.
For partners and parents who will be staying, there is a cashless bar/lounge area above the ice where you can watch the action. We will bring enough sandwiches for family members to also have dinner. However, as for all SBsync activities, we ask that the teens and adults with SB sit together for dinner without other family members to encourage peer relationship building and mentorship between teens and adults. There is plenty of space in the upper and lower lounge areas to accommodate all who attend.
