Welcome Alexis Allen to SBCC Staff

Welcome Alexis Allen to SBCC Staff

SBCC is happy to announce that we have hired Alexis Allen as a Communications Assistant. Alexis will be working 5 hours a week providing support to Rhonda and Diane with social media posts, the bi-weekly E-News, the Spina Bifida Awareness Month campaign, and other communication duties. As a self-advocate with spina bifida, providing input on adult programming will also be part of her job responsibilities.

A recent graduate of Madison College in Wisconsin, Alexis holds an Associates Degree in Human Services. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Alexis moved to Liberty Township last year, where she currently lives with her parents, younger sister, and grandmother. She also has a brother who is away at college where he plays soccer.

Raising awareness of disability issues with frequent posts on social media, Alexis drew the attention of SBCC staff. In addition to promoting disability related items, she also enjoys completing adult coloring pages in her free time, playing wheelchair basketball, and spending time with her service dog, Frito. Frito assists Alexis by picking up dropped items from the floor, most often her cell phone, as well as, opening doors and drawers, and sometimes pulling her on their walks around the neighborhood. Alexis will be celebrating her birthday this week on September 15th, when she will turn 27.

When asked about working for the Spina Bifida Coalition of Cincinnati, Alexis shared, “I love what SBCC is doing and think this job is a great chance to be creative and gain some work skills while looking for additional job opportunities.”

We are excited to bring Alexis onto the team at SBCC.
